A Sunday Trip Down The Bayou Teche

It was a very hot day today but that didn't stop us from taking a trip in the kayak down the Bayou Teche in Loreauville, Louisiana. We launched at the brand-new kayak launch installed near the bridge in Loreauville. We were actually the second person to use the dock since its installation. We met up with a gentleman named Philip and his kayak as he was coming back to the launch. He was very nice and knowledgeable about all sorts of places to explore in our kayak.

It was very hot and humid and we tried to stay close to the bank to catch what little shade there was. Temperatures were around 95° with high humidity. We still enjoyed ourselves even though the high temperatures could have kept us away. Our trip today only consisted of about of about a mile and a half upstream but we certainly enjoyed all the sites we saw along the way.

The new kayak launch worked perfectly. The new dock is constructed of aluminum with wood decking and featured a nice kayak slip with hand rails to enter and exit the kayak.
